Cali Centres Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists work closely with our Cali students carrying out physical assessments, equipment assessments, developing postural care plans and both Individual and Group Physiotherapy Programmes. The physiotherapy service also involves home visits to ensure consistency of care between Cali and home.

Cali Centres Learning

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy is an essential support to Cali students covering both speech and language development and FEDS (Feeding, Eating, Drinking and Swallowing difficulties).

Speech Therapists assess and devise individual plans. They also support Cali facilitators to implement the SLT programme throughout the day.

Cali Centres AAC

AAC

Augmentative and alternative communication

An AAC specialist assesses and advises each individual regarding both low tech (e.g., PECS - Picture Exchange Communication System), Lámh (sign language for people with disabilities) and high tech communication supports (e.g., talker devices and software).

The AAC specialist also runs group AAC communication sessions.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists assess each individual and develop programmes to help them to develop skills needed for daily living. This includes assessments for specialist seating, sourcing equipment needed for activities such as eating, cooking, dressing, as well as sensory integration or exercises around things such as hand function.

Behavioural Therapy

Behavioural Therapy

Behavioural Therapy specialists work with our Cali students to help them deal well with situations or environments which are stressful to them. The Behavioural Therapist focuses on a goal and devising a strategy or plan to help the individual and those who support them to cope more effectively in situations which the individual finds challenging.

Equine Therapy

Equine Therapy

Equine Therapy helps our students with emotional regulation, sensory integration, increased physical fitness, strength, flexibility, posture and balance.

The students also engage in a series of therapeutic activities aimed at developing both gross and fine motor skills.

Aqua Therapy

Aqua Therapy sessions are led by our physiotherapists. Each session is tailored to the specific goals of each individual. The therapy helps with balance and co-ordination, builds strength and endurance without putting pressure on joints and bones and improves joint flexibility.

PT Individual Programmes

PT Individual Programmes

The physiotherapists have devised and lead a weekly group PT session which includes exercises that are aimed at both individual goals, as well as being beneficial for all Cali students. It involves the students moving around a circuit of activities.

Dance & Brain Groove

Dance & Brain Groove

Dance and Brain Groove is packed with brain activation exercises and building physical literacy through dance.

Patterned repetitive movement helps develop the corpus collosum in the brain which enables both brain hemispheres to communicate better. This supports learning, memory and problem solving.

Sensory Integration

Sensory Integration

Sensory integration techniques and activities help our students to take in information from their 5 senses, organise it, integrate it and respond appropriately.

These activities support the development of autonomic neurological processes that affect daily living.

Drama

Drama

Drama classes help our students to find their voices and to express themselves. It develops awareness of both self and others and builds their confidence in navigating lifes situations.

Drama fosters creativity in a fun and inclusive way.
